Tara Sutherlin
Staff Accountant
Fifteen years into accounting, and the moment when everything balances still gets me. There's something deeply satisfying about taking a chaotic mess of receipts and transactions and turning it into something that makes sense. That's pretty much what happens here: keeping the books clean, catching the details, solving the problems that don't have obvious answers.
My background spans both corporate environments and small businesses, which means the rules look different depending on who you are and what you're doing. And those rules never stop changing. New tax codes, new compliance requirements, new software. Some people find that exhausting. For me, it's what keeps the work interesting. Boredom sets in fast when there's nothing new to figure out.
Kinnamon Financial brought me on in early 2023. Outside of work, life revolves around three daughters and a husband of 22 years. They're genuinely the reason any of this matters. My youngest plays travel softball, so weekends often mean lawn chairs at fields across Indiana. When we're home, you'll find me out on the Plainfield trails or behind a camera. Photography scratches a different part of my brain, the creative side that doesn't get much use reconciling accounts. Both are necessary.
